KLARK TEKNIK SQUARE ONE KICKS OFF IN HAWAII AT PRO BOWL 2006

Klark Teknik Square ONE made its Hawaiian debut at the NFC vs AFC NFL Pro Bowl game in Aloha Stadium, Hololulu, on February 12th. Kaneohe-based Custom Audio Hawaii drafted their freshly unpacked Square ONE graphic and dynamics units for the Backstreet Boys halftime show, running them on the monitor mix alongside a Midas Venice 160 console.

“We took delivery on the Square ONE units and Venice console the day we packed the truck for the game,” Jeff Kang of Custom Audio reported. “Having demo’d Square ONE at the Telex Pro Audio Group roadshow in December, and also at NAMM, we were ready to put it straight to work at the Pro Bowl with the Backstreet Boys. Things sounded great on game day. The Midas / KT combo is pretty much unbeatable: when you start with the best preamps and EQs, you don’t have to toil over a mix to get decent sound – even with the so-called entry-level equipment. Square ONE and Venice are only really ‘entry level’ in terms of price point, rather than performance. Both simply cut back on some of the features that kick up the cost – that concert-quality sound is still there. Sure enough, barely any EQ tweaking was necessary on the monitors for the Backstreet Boys – their engineer came in, put in a couple of dips and was off and running.”

Kang added: “From a rental perspective, Square ONE comes with the rider-friendly reliability that the KT badge represents. From a retail perspective, in the Creative Sound Hawaii side of our business, Square ONE makes that performance and reliability more accessible to our customers. DN360s have always been a standard EQ for us, as they are across the pro audio industry. Square ONE means we can now offer KT in a similar price bracket to products from brands that are simply not in the same league. When you look at it like that, and hear how good these units sound, it’s pretty phenomenal. We’ve got Square ONE slated for the graphics on a couple of upcoming installs, and anticipate it become a standard spec for a wide range of applications and budgets. It’s simply a great idea: easy to use, easier to afford, and with all the sonic performance you’d expect from KT.”
